Community rules

A kind place for parents

The Calmo Community is where mums, dads, partners, parents-to-be and grandparents talk to people at the same stage. It works because everyone looks after it. These rules are short, and they apply in every circle and every direct message.

1. Be kind

Every family does it differently. No judging how anyone feeds, sleeps or parents. Disagree gently, or not at all. No swearing, insults, bullying or adult content.

2. We’re parents, not doctors

Share what worked for you, but nothing here is medical advice, and please don’t give medical advice to others.

  • Emergency: if your baby isn’t breathing, is turning blue, won’t wake or is having a fit, call 999 straight away. Don’t wait for replies in the chat.
  • Worried, but it’s not an emergency: call NHS 111 or your GP.
  • Everyday questions about feeding, sleep, growth or how you’re feeling: your health visitor or midwife is there for you.
  • Struggling yourself: Samaritans on 116 123 (free, any time), or PANDAS for parents’ mental health.

3. No selling

No adverts, shop links, referral codes, sponsored posts or recruiting. Recommending something you genuinely use is fine.

4. Keep personal details out of the circles

Use your username and first names only. Don’t post phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses or your child’s nursery in a circle. The chat blocks phone numbers and email addresses there. If you both want to swap details, use a direct message, and only share what you’re comfortable with.

5. Photos of children

  • Only share photos where children are fully clothed. Never bath, nappy, swimming or unclothed photos.
  • No names, school or nursery logos, house numbers, number plates or anything else that shows where a child lives or goes.
  • Only share photos of other people’s children if their parents have said yes.

When you share a photo, the chat makes it smaller and removes the location data from your camera before it’s sent.

6. Report anything that worries you

Every message has a Report button. Tap it, pick a reason, and the message is hidden for you straight away. A Calmo host reads every report. You can also hide someone’s messages by tapping their name and choosing “Hide their messages”.

If you think a child or adult is in danger right now, call 999.

7. Adults only

The community is for people aged 18 and over.

When the rules are broken

We remove messages, photos and files that break these rules, and we suspend or close accounts that break them, without warning if we need to. If you think we got it wrong, email info@calmobaby.com and we’ll take another look.

How we handle your account details is explained in our privacy policy.
