Terms of sale, in plain English.

The rules for buying from Calmo, written so you can read them one-handed. Nothing here takes away your legal rights as a consumer, and nothing here is meant to.

Readable one-handed. Mostly.

1. About these terms

These terms apply to every order you place with Calmo on this website. They’re written for customers buying as consumers, for their own use or as a gift, and not for a business.

Calmo · calmobaby.com · hello@calmobaby.com

In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Calmo, and “you” means the person placing the order.

You can reach us at hello@calmobaby.com. Real people answer, Monday to Friday 9am–5pm and Saturday 10am–2pm (UK time), within one working day.

2. Ordering & your contract

  • You must be 18 or over to place an order.
  • When you place an order, we email to confirm we’ve received it. That email doesn’t mean we’ve accepted your order yet.
  • Our contract with you starts when we email to say your order has been dispatched.
  • If we can’t accept your order (for example, because something is out of stock, there’s a mistake in the price, or we can’t deliver to your address), we’ll tell you and won’t charge you. If you’ve already paid, we’ll refund you in full.
  • Please check your order before you pay. If you spot a mistake afterwards, email us as soon as you can. We dispatch within one working day, so speed helps.

3. Prices, VAT & payment

  • All prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies.
  • Delivery charges are shown before you pay. You’ll find them on our Delivery page too.
  • We work hard to get prices right. If we’ve clearly made a mistake with a price, we’ll contact you before dispatch, and you can either go ahead at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
  • Offers, such as Any 3 for £24.95 (any three £9.95 products for £24.95), apply as described on the site when you order. If you return one item from a multi-buy or a bundle, we refund the price you actually paid for that item: the discount is shared across the items in proportion to their normal prices.
  • We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay and Google Pay through Shopify Payments, and PayPal. Payment is taken when you place your order. We never see or store your full card number.

4. Delivery

  • We deliver to UK addresses only, including the Highlands, the islands and Northern Ireland. For now we don’t deliver to the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or BFPO addresses. Delivery options, costs and times are set out on our Delivery page and shown at checkout.
  • We dispatch within one working day. Delivery times are estimates. If something holds up your order, we’ll tell you.
  • Your order is our responsibility until it’s delivered to you, or to someone you’ve asked us to deliver it to. It becomes yours once we’ve received payment in full.
  • If your order hasn’t arrived within 30 days of us accepting it, and we haven’t agreed a different date with you, you can cancel and get a full refund.
  • Orders ship from our warehouse by a tracked courier.

5. Your right to cancel

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you can change your mind and cancel your order for any reason within 14 days. This is your legal right, and it’s separate from the 60-night trial.

  • When: within 14 days of the day you (or someone you name) receive the goods. If your order arrives in more than one parcel, the 14 days run from the day the last one arrives.
  • How: tell us clearly, by emailing hello@calmobaby.com. You don’t need to give a reason. You can use the model cancellation form below, but you don’t have to.
  • Sending it back: return the goods within 14 days of telling us. We’ll give you a free UK returns label.
  • Your refund: we refund the price you paid and, if you cancel the whole order, the cost of standard delivery. Standard delivery is free, so if you paid £4.95 for next working day delivery, that extra charge isn’t refunded. We refund within 14 days of receiving the goods back, or of you showing us proof that you’ve sent them, whichever is sooner, using the same payment method you used.
  • Exception: sealed goods that aren’t suitable for return once unsealed for health protection or hygiene reasons can’t be cancelled once you’ve opened them, unless they’re faulty. The hygiene exceptions are listed on our Returns page.
  • Normal use: the law usually lets a shop reduce a refund if goods have been handled more than needed to check them. Because of the 60-night trial, we won’t make a deduction for normal use.

6. The 60-night trial

On top of your legal rights, every product comes with a 60-night trial. It’s a promise from us, and it doesn’t replace or reduce any of your statutory rights.

  • If a product doesn’t fix the problem it’s sold to fix, you can return it within 60 nights of delivery for a full refund of its price. The 60 nights start on the day of delivery.
  • You decide whether it worked. You don’t have to give a reason, though we’d be grateful if you did.
  • To use the trial, email us by night 60, then post the product within 14 days of telling us. Please send it back clean and with all its parts.
  • Return postage is free within the UK: we’ll email you a free returns label.
  • Hygiene exceptions: once opened, teethers, the Gentle Nasal Aspirator, the Postpartum Peri Bottle, the Hands-Free Pumping Bra, and cups, straws and items that come into contact with a bottle can only be returned unopened, unless they’re faulty.
  • We refund within 14 days of the return arriving, to the way you paid. For an item from a multi-buy or a bundle, we refund the price you actually paid for it, as explained in section 3.
  • Standard delivery is free, so there’s no delivery charge to refund. A £4.95 next working day delivery charge isn’t refunded on trial returns, unless the item was faulty or we sent the wrong thing.

How to start a return is set out on our Returns page.

7. Faulty goods

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, everything we sell must be as described, of satisfactory quality, and fit for purpose. If it isn’t:

  • Within 30 days of delivery, you can reject it and get a full refund.
  • After 30 days, you’re entitled to a repair or a replacement. If that isn’t possible, or doesn’t fix the problem, you can have a refund or a price reduction.
  • In the first six months, a fault is assumed to have been there on delivery unless we can show otherwise. After six months, you may need to show it was.
  • Time limits: you can make a claim for up to six years after delivery (five years in Scotland).

Faulty goods can always be returned, including opened hygiene items, and we pay the return postage. If you think a fault could cause harm, stop using the item and email safety@calmobaby.com. Safety emails are prioritised and answered the same day on working days.

8. Using your product safely

Every product comes with instructions. They matter, so please:

  • Read the instructions and warnings before first use, and keep them.
  • Use each product only for the age, stage and purpose stated, and in the way the instructions describe.
  • Check it before each use. If anything is cracked, loose, torn or worn, stop using it and tell us.
  • Remember that safety products make some accidents less likely. They don’t replace an adult keeping an eye.
  • Follow the Lullaby Trust’s safe sleep advice, including a clear, flat cot. Nothing goes in the cot unless it’s made to be there.

Our products are not a substitute for professional advice. The Duck Bath Thermometer, for example, is a guide: check the water yourself too, as the NHS advises. For anything about your child’s health, talk to your health visitor or GP, or contact NHS 111.

9. Our liability

  • If we break these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if we both knew it might happen when the contract was made.
  • We don’t exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of your legal rights in relation to the products, and defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987.
  • We sell our products for domestic and private use. We’re not responsible for business losses, such as loss of profit or business interruption.

10. The Night Shift Club & reviews

The Night Shift Club

  • Membership is free. You earn 1 point for every £1 you spend on products. Delivery charges don’t earn points.
  • Every 100 points can be used for £5 off an order.
  • If you return an item, the points you earned on it are removed.
  • Points expire if you go 12 months without placing an order.
  • Members get early access to new products and, if they choose to share their little one’s birthday month, a small gift for their child’s first birthday.
  • Points have no cash value and can’t be transferred.
  • We’ll give members at least 30 days’ notice by email before we change the scheme.

Club+

  • Club+ is an optional paid membership with parent circles, live Q&As and the members’ discount.
  • Your first 30 days are free. After that it costs £4.95 a month until you cancel.
  • We email you 3 days before your free month ends, and before each renewal if you ask us to.
  • You can cancel any time, and you won’t be charged again. If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, you can ask for that payment back.
  • Circles are parents helping parents. They aren’t medical advice.

More on our Night Shift Club page.

Reviews

Reviews must follow our review rules. By posting a review, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish it, with your first name, on our website. You still own your review. We never edit the words.

11. Everything else

  • Events outside our control. If something we can’t reasonably control delays your order, we’ll tell you and do what we can to limit the delay. If it goes on too long, you can cancel for a full refund.
  • Changes to these terms. We may update these terms from time to time. The version on the site when you placed your order is the one that applies to it.
  • If part of these terms isn’t valid, the rest still applies.
  • Complaints. Please email hello@calmobaby.com first. We’d much rather put it right. We’re not obliged to use an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme, and we don’t currently use one. If you’re not happy with our answer, Citizens Advice can give you free, independent advice.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can also bring them in Scotland; if you live in Northern Ireland, you can also bring them in Northern Ireland.
